Day 26: Earless in Paris, Cemetery Walk and Late Lunch at Chez Julien

Monday, May 6th and we were ready to once again tackle getting to the Van Gogh at the Atelier des Lumieres. We knew the way so we didn’t have to leave quite so early. As it was Monday, there was lots of traffic. Crazy.

You cannot explain this amazing experience. These pictures cannot do it justice. The music and art, wow. It is in this huge warehouse. It is as if you are in the paintings. For prospective, look at the people in the photos and how small they are. If you are planning on going to Paris before the end of 2019 you must go to this museum. On our way home we watched the movie “At Eternity’s Gate” about Van Gogh. It brought it all together.

What an experience! One thing we had not done on our trips to Paris was visit the Pere Lachaise Cemetery. This is the famous cemetery in Paris. It is named for Father (Pere) La Chaise, whose job it was to listen to Louis XIV’s sins. It opened in 1804. The cemetery is 100 acres. We entered on the side that lists the casualties of WWI by year. Very amazing.

I decided to follow the Rick Steve’s route (only we did it backwards!). We saw his must sees with some additional graves is below.

Then we saw several monuments to the Holocaust.

After our walk we were hungry and decided to have a late lunch and then later maybe have a snack for dinner. We decided to head to Chez Julien in honor of our friends Julien.

We wandered home to pack and relax and get ready to head home tomorrow.

  1. The Van Gogh at the Atelier des Lumieres looked really amazing! We’ll definitely put that on the list of places to see in October!
