Rouge Bordeaux

Julien, Sawyer, Megan and Fynn

Rouge Bordeaux is a French American bed and breakfast located in the heart of the Sauternes, Graves, and Bordeaux Superior Vineyards. Only 30 minutes by train from the center of Bordeaux, 15 minutes by car from the Bazas Cathedrale and Langon train station, and one hour from the coast.

Rouge Bordeaux is nestled in the small village of Auros, France and is surrounded by hiking/cycling trails, which include the St. Jacques de Compostelle pilgrimage route!

This authentic Gironde manor and former parsonage dates back to the late 18th century and in January 2011 Julien (French) and Megan (American) Martel began renovation.  It is now the Rouge Bordeaux B&B and conference center.

They offer a veritable cultural adventure along with three bed & breakfast rooms.  Each room has its own en-suite bathroom, are available for reservation throughout the year.

Rouge Bordeaux offers a complimentary French breakfast each morning. Fresh croissants, pain au chocolat, and baguettes from the local bakery are served along with an assortment of jams, butter, yogurt, and fruit. Drinks include coffee, tea, and fruit juices. An American style breakfast is offered upon request and with pleasure.

While there you can explore beautiful vineyards, taste wine in Sauternes, Graves, or Bordeaux Superior Chateaux, visit medieval, 19th century castles and local farms/restaurants. With a 900-m² garden, the Rouge Bordeaux B&B’s serene backyard oasis is a perfect spot for you to lounge poolside or enjoy a glass of rose under the plum tree.

Whether you are interested in wine tasting (Sauternes, St. Emilion, others), cooking with Julien, chocolate making, gourmet restaurants, brushing up on your French, experiencing the beautiful French countryside, visiting Bordeaux, Arcachon or the Due du Plat or something else you have found on your own, they will customize the experience just for you.

Julien Martel offers French cooking and/or language lessons.   You can learn how to make a perfect béarnaise sauce or impress your friends with a delicious boeuf bourguignonne made with the wine from your trip!Julien is an amazing cook.  He makes duck that is so tender and tasty.  His tarte tatin and lemon meringue pie are awesome.

They can handle all your transportation needs including picking you up in Bordeaux and touring you around.  And if you are staying longer they can help you rent a car.  Julien’s French is extremely helpful in the car rental process.
